It's been a little bit

Quite a lot has happened since the last time I wrote here.  I  received 3.7's in both my Business Info Systems class and in my International Business class.  I was somewhat disappointed with the grad I received on my final paper for international business but it was a fair grade.

We enjoyed Mom and Dad's visit out here.  Dad and I got to play two rounds of golf, which were quite enjoyable.  Since their visit, the weather here has been grey and fairly cold.  We're happy that Mom and Dad got to enjoy some warm, sunny weather on their visit.  We also got to go to Minnesota for Thanksgiving.  I was so great to get to spend some time with Grandpa and the rest of my family.  In just a few short weeks we'll be heading back to Minnesota for Christmas and new years.

I thought the Thanksgiving trip was really going to set me back further than it did with respect to my weight loss goals.  Yesterday I was down to 208.  If I can get down to under 205 before we go back to Minnesota again, I think I will be able to get to under 200 by the new year.  Luckily for me, the gym Ali and I have a membership to has a location not too far from my parent's house in Minnesota, so I'm able to keep working out while we're back there.

I have a paper to finish for my Thursday night class that I've been avoiding for too long.  So I'm off to finish that.  Until next time.

Waiting

I feel like I'm doing a lot of waiting today, and this week in general.  As I write this, I'm waiting for a call from the mechanic that Ali's car is finished.  The car is in for it's 60000 mile check up and an oil change.  When it's all said and done the total cost will be in the low $200s, which is less than half of what this service would cost at the dealer, so in this instance, I'm happy to wait.  Another thing I'm waiting on is my grade from my international business class.  Apparently grades were due to the school by Wednesday, but as of now, they still haven't been posted.  I think I'm right on the cusp of a 4.0 in that class.  If I did well on the final paper and presentation I will get a 4.0, otherwise I think I'm firmly in a 3.7.  I will be happy with either grade but I would really like to get a 4.0.  I think the waiting for the grade to be posted is made harder by the knowledge that I'm right on the boarder.  I'm also waiting to hear from my business stats professor about the next set of homework problems.  I've got the homework done for this coming Monday, but I'd like to get the homework for the following Monday out of the way as well because I don't foresee myself having much time to work on it while my parents are here next weekend.

Oh yea, my grade for my business information systems class was posted a while back.  I got a 3.7 in that.  I'm really happy with that grade because I really didn't care for the course, given the way it was structured and instructed.

That's all I can think of for now, until next time.

Quick update

The Vikings...*SIGH*  The loss to the packers two weeks ago due to inept coaching was bad, but now they just waive Moss?  WTF?  Are they trying to finish the season 2-14?  There aren't even that many intriguing first round picks...sheesh.

Not too much is new out here.  We did spend some time with friends this weekend.  That was fun.  Comet got to meet their dogs as well.  The meetings went much better than I had anticipated.  Hopefully we can take Comet on some hikes with his new acquaintance's.

My parents will be visiting next week and I'm looking forward to it.  My Dad wants to play a bunch of golf which is cool because I haven't been able to play in a while.  Plus he'll pay ;)

Anyway, that's all I can think of for now.

Back Off Ma Trash!

Last Friday Ali and I decided to pick up some thai food for dinner.  Well I was so excited to go get it that I forgot to lock the trash in the kitchen.  Big mistake.  30 minutes later when Ali and I got back home, there was trash all over the kitchen and blood on the floor, down the hallway, on the hallway baseboards and walls, and as we would shortly discover, staining the carpet in the bedroom.  Well...obviously (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMtZfW2z9dw) Comet decided to rummage through the trash to see what morsels he could find.  Pistachio, awakened by the commotion, became interested in morsel scavenging as well.  Comet, being offended by Pistachio trying to profit from his hard work, could not let that pass and bit Pistachio in her most prominent feature; her ear.  He managed to create a tear about a half and inch long but he must have nicked a vein or something because there was blood everywhere.  Ali and I thought that we were going to have to look for Pistachio's lifeless body.  Luckily she was just hiding in a corner in the bedroom, bleeding all over the carpet.  Saturday morning we took her to the vet and she was prescribed some antibiotics to prevent infection and a cone.

The tear
Don't you feel sorry for me?  Wouldn't you like to give me some food?
The good news is that neither Comet of Pistachio sustained a major injury.  As of this morning, they're back to curling up with each other in the morning, so no love loss either.  The bad news is that seeing the vet and antibiotics aren't cheap.  Also, Pistachio remembers how to use the cone to her advantage (eg. ramming your calves with it to get your attention, particularly around dinner time).

Anyway, that's all for now.  I need to finish my final paper for international business.  Wish me luck!

Random thoughts for 10/21/10

Whelp.  Guess I'm gonna try to start doing this blogging thing again.  Seems like a more appropriate way to waste time than spending hours playing video games.  Although I did just pre-order Black Ops...but shhhhh...

So C.A.M.P.?  WTF is that?  In possibly my most creative moment, I took the first letters of the four members of my household and spelled a word with them [(Comet, dog),(Ali, wife),(Marshall, me),(Pistachio, dog)].  Aren't you impressed?

OK, so here are my random thoughts for today.

After a 4-5 week hiatus from working out (mostly due to laziness but there was some school in there too), I decided to get my ass back in the gym.  Put in a decent workout today; 2 sets of swiss ball abs, 2 sets of crunches, 2 sets of push ups, and 45min on the elliptical.  When I got home and weighed myself I was a surprising 212.5.  I'm pretty happy with that as I was 209.6 before my little hiatus.  If I get myself to go to the gym 3-4 days a week I should easily be under 200 by new years.  I guess doing this blog should help keep me motivated as well.

Thought #2.  I'm kind of enjoying all of the rain we've been having.  Comet on the other-hand is getting quite aggravated with it.  Mostly because the rain means that Ali and I are less willing to go outside and play fetch with him.  Here he is this afternoon...longing to go outside and play...

Thought #3.  I just finished two classes at UofR.  I'm waiting for my final grade to be posted in one of the classes and I've got to write a 7-10 page paper by next Wednesday for the other.  If I get 3.3's in both classes I'll be satisfied but I'm hoping for 3.7's.  I'm somewhat confused as to how to start this paper.  Even the concept is a little confusing.  I think if I can come up with a decent outline by tonight, I should have it finished by early next week.

That's all for now.  Time to get this paper figured out.
